PC unable to copy photos to CD.

PC running XP home:-
Whilst trying to copy to CD our Nile trip photos, I did the normal "copy to CD" it goes through the usual temp copy etc when it starts to write, the Wizard says "an error occurred when writing to CD". The error message says the software is used under license from Roxio, no clue as to the programme name.I did the usual disk clean and ran PC Optimise.
If I use Nero I can make an ISO data CD OK.

Howard,
Firstly to save the usual suspects the bother..
"Go buy a Mac"
Now that that's out of the way..
"Go get some decent CD burning software"
Roxio software, in my experience, is totally unreliable. Would recommend CDburnerXP pro (http://www.cdburnerxp.se/). It very good and it's free. Has never let me down. If you like it then you can paypal them a few $s. That's only polite.
Regards,
Willy.

I thought we agreed that although the Mac is a better machine we weren't going keep telling PC users to buy a Mac

You don't need CD burning software.
Go to my computer
Right click recorder drive
Click properties
Click on recording tab
Tick, ebable CD recording on this drive.
Select burn speed, Click OK
Insert blank disc in drive.
Go to my computer
Open recorder drive
Drag and drop or copy and paste photos into recorder drive
Click on “write these files to CD
The Mac is a very good machine, ideal for people who lack the intelligence to use a PC.

Sounds like you have one of those time limited demos underway or something.

And me, I have to put up with inserting a blank disk, dragging files onto the disk and ejecting it.
I do sometimes wish it was more complicated, I really do but I is thick.

You have to eject the disc after burning. That must be a bit of a ballache.

I did find the error report on the MS site. It suggested much as fatcat said plus running services.msc and altering a setting for the drives to manual from auto. Needless to say that didn't fix it. Of course I missed the obvious work round and used a flash drive. As I said using Nero and making a data CD also seems to work it just takes a few more keystrokes.
Thanks for the responses.

I used to be lucky and only had to work 12 hours per day + weekends. Now I am up to 15-18 want to keep fit and atleast SEE my children, let the other half no that she has a partner and listen to music and watch a film.
Intelligence I have, as all, but no time to become a computer programer so I can use a computer. Mac or PC I wanna turn it on and wannit to work thats what I paid for.
Am I really living in this country called Great Britain?
