BLUE CIRCLE

Does anybody know anything about 'BLUE CIRCLE CONES'? I stumbled across this link today.

Blue Circle

Their isolation cones cost $150 + shipping for 3. They seem to usually offer these things on a trial basis but, due to the lack of UK availability, they are able to offer a 40% discount on a non-return basis.

Blue Circle Cement would probably work better. Just send me the money and you can have some by return.

Oh, not those cones made out of reclaimed Kraptonite again. Jeez!

If you want 6 high quality aluminium cones to play with I can send you them. They look identical to Blue Circles apart from they're not made of some mysterious raw material we've never 'encountered'. My cones do look pretty on the book shelf. They have been placed under various bits of equipment with no great detrimental effect. They even helped a pair of loudspeakers until they over-balanced and fell on the floor.

Seriously though, I would consider either a Mana Soundframe or a Base 01 shelf on top of your existing support and underneath your CD player. If you don't notice any difference, either send it back or decide that you must throw out your home-made support structure and invest in something purpose built.

Best wishes,

Alex

I was just trying to get away from other topics, that's all.

Thanks for the reply, it's what I thought. I've looked at other 'cones' at hi-fi shows but never considered them to be worth the money. I'd just never heard of this make before.

About the BASE 01 shelf you mention. When I spoke yesterday to the guy from Base he never mentioned any 'standalone' shelves. As I understood it you buy each 'box', and add a 'platform' to it. Is this BASE 01 shelf you mention simply a platform?

Do you work less than me?

I was considering purchasing some Nordest Pulsar Points this weekend, now I am a little reluctant to shell out 50 quid on some turned aluminium, I know someone in the business and have been assured it would cost about £4 to make them, but hey its the hifi show and I just have to get something.

anyhoo anyone getting good/bad results from these things.

And no I won't even think about the titanium ones.

I'm still laughing at the quote Alex S. provided... who can take language like that seriously?

Alex is one of the funniest blokes on the forum. Hell of a sense of humour. That's IMHO, of course. I don't want to start an argument or anything. wink

Sadly, like most 'comedians' I'm really boring in real life. I am setting off soon to prove this at the show.
