Is there 'region' versions on CDs in the UK

Posted by: Stephen Dupuis on 21 December 2009

If I order CDs from the UK will they play in Canada or is there some region issues? The new Charlie Winston CD will not be released in Canada until March 2010 but I can order it online at HMV.

Thanks for your feedback.

No region issues with cd. Quality issues perhaps in that cds from some countries seem to be better than others. That's something else and I can't advise you there as I've never been able to compare.

Tom,

Stellar news, thanks. I am assuming that HMV would only be selling legitimate production CDs and that they would be on-par with what I would get locally (well in 3-4 months). Thanks for the quick reply - have a great holiday!

With today's CD production there is not too much difference between production sites in terms of quality, this used to be different in the early days.

I remember my first CD player, a Trio, really did not like French pressed CDs. It would often not load the first track, or two. Really had problems with the few CDs I had with only one track.

I have no problems with pressings the last ten years or more.
