PULP - We Love Life.

Jarvis Cocker has replaced (lyrically) the pointed prose of Morrisey in the Weekes household. We Love Life is an excellent album, full of the usual witty and wry lyrics. It's all beatifully played and recorded with a good flow to the album. Not really one for cherry-picking, but for a listen in it's entirety. Accesible, but rewards concenbtration.

Mogwai - Kicking a Dead Pig (Mogwai songs remixed)

Since most Mogwai songs sound a bit like remixes anyway this is a mixed bunch, but I'm on a Mogwai fix at the moment as Come on Die Young, and Rock Action are current frequent spinners, even though they're oldies.

Eels - Souljacker

Love this - raw, rocky and fun with some good 'ol guitar 'n' bass 'n' drums to get the room moving.I loved this from first play, but others in the house have found it harder (or is that wierder?).

Bonnie Raitt - Fundamental

The new producer seems to have worked well on this one. Some lovely guitar work, and the voice is as heavenly as ever. I love the track 'Round and Round' and old J.B. Lenoir / Willie Dixon number which despite the producer's obvious attempt to make it sound old-fashioned has a raw feel to it that just communicates. Love it.

Sting - All this time

O.K. so there goes my music cred, but I do like this album. It's a live set, with plenty of old Sting standards re-jigged to add some interest. It's not the Police but it's a superb recording for a live album, and he's written some great songs (even if most of them were years ago!)
