The Grand National

Do we really still need this these days?

What's wrong with it, Jamie?
It's a bit of racing excitement once a year and even better when, like me, you've just put three quid on a nag and ended up with twelve quid...
Having said that, I really hope Hear The Echo will be ok, I believe the horse had a bad fall, which is awful news.
Regards, Ian

I've never liked horse racing.
The damned things are too fast and I've never beaten one yet.

Absolutely. All horse racing is. Unfortunately, it's seen as "fun."
Not sure I agree. An old friend of the family who loved, and worked with horses all his life was adamant that they thrive on robust exercise including regular racing. However he regarded the Grand National as cruel and hated it.

And so have I, ever since yesterday, when the horse I put my money on, pulled up at the sixth fence from home! Why is it I never back the winner? £20 on the eventual winner would have bought be a nice upgrade for the LP12quote:... the Grand National ... hated it.
