All you Acoustic/Folk Bods out there must check out this superb singer/songwriter as soon as you can. I have just bought her latest "1000 Kisses" (import only at the moment") and it's excellent. Her other CDs are as good "Flaming Red" and her 1st CD "Living with Ghosts", again both are very good. Any others out there know any more about her work.
Oh! bye the way I got 1000 Kissses from CD Now in the States for 13 Dollars. A bargain!

Patty has been around for quite a while now, although unlike people like Norah Jones, who record companies seem to fawn all over, Patty hasn't had the best of times.

Her first album was initially rejected by the record company, who said it didn't sound enough like her Demos. She said why don't you release the demos then, so they did. The second album 'Flamin Red', was recorded with her band ... and is one of the nest albums of the last few years.

The follow up 'Silver Bell' was again rejected by the record company (obviously not bland enough to compete with Norah) despite the fact that people like Emmylou were covering her songs and she'd just finished a high profile support slot on the US Dixie Chicks tour. This was mid 2001 ... eventually she got out of her contract, but had to leave the album unreleased with the record company.

The new one '1000 kisses' was recorded in a week a few months ago just to get something out. COnsidering that ... its very good, although inevitably a little bit of a disappointment after Flamin Red. The concert recordings I've heard suggest that 'Silver Bell' would have been excellent

Difference of opinion really, I prefer her more raw acoustic stuff like "Living with Ghosts" and "1000 Kisses". Just seems to be more "live". Sound Quality is very good too.

I guess ... I think I prefer the contrast between the sweet tunes and the noise the band makes. She uses the noise they make very musically, which seems to add another dimention to the songs. I've got acoustic versions of most of the songs on 'Flamin Red' and to me they loose something without the band. I think the songs are stronger on that album too.

However ... I think you are in the majority when it comes to Patty's fans.

I still think 1000 Kisses is a liitle weak (for Her) ... It starts very strongly, but I felt the last few songs were a bit bland. All well recorded, but the material was a bit weak.

Interesting to know you have acoustic versions of Flaming Red. Can I ask you how and where you got them? I would be very interested if I could get hold of a copy. Are they MP3s or CD?
