Look what I made

I noticed a post of people showing Naim innards and homebrew stuff so here's mine. This is a 'halfcap' I made for my Headline. The Headline, I hate to let this out, is mono powered and uses only one side of whatever PS you hook up to it. Seems rather uneconomical to go buy a Hicap for it, even used, so I built one. It's an exact copy of one side of a Hicap with a Plitron 225VA trany. I think it's rather clever of me the way I wired it all point to point off a terminal strip attached to the regulator's heatsink. The resistors and caps just lined up beautifully. No long wires or traces anywhere. In fact no wires anywhere, except the leads from the mains, trany, rectifier and cap, which I haven't trimmed up yet since I intened to move it all to a nicer box when i find one. Sounds real fine to me, dead quiet anyway. It would be nice if i had a LM317 that had been selected for low noise but it seams to function nicely enough. So where do you get 'selected' regulators?

Looks like I can't post a picture, this is what I get: Your upload (66Kb) exceeds the maximum allowed size (32Kb). And I thought I took a pretty low res picture too.
Sorry

RP open the picture in a graphics application, such as coral paint/draw, photoshop/deluxe and save it as a JPeg then set the quality to medium and it should come out at 32 kb, assuming you took a picture at the lowest res on your camera

If you like you can send it to me by e-mail so I can reduce the amount of data. Up to you

I tried as recommened using photoshop. I got it from 72k down to 44k on low. Unfortunately, I won't know if it uploads till I post this, there should be some way that if an upload doesn't go through the whole post is rejected, that way you don't post a useless message. I hope this works...

Ok, I played w/ the size manually and got it to 32k. If the post office ever wants to put out a stamp with a homebrew hicap on it I now have the perfect microscopic image to submit!

I think I got a greater sense of accomplishment getting these images to post than building the thing. Took about as long too. Maybe it would be better if the uploading page comes up before the posting page. Or you get a 'preview' page before you ok the post. Anyway, here a close up.

OK, I'll move it to the 'Internal Photos' Post. It'll only take a minute, I got this down now!
