Hey Flame,
Before going down the route of the big Onks, I would check out comparable AVRs from Pioneer and Denon...Also Marantz. Yamaha seem to have come on song lately too.
I've never been too big a fan of the Onkyos, always found them a bit crash bang and wallop whenever I heard them...I think they have a big sound for action films etc, but I always thought they sounded clumsy and heavy with anything else...Damn ugly too !! They were all the rage a year or two ago, and do represent good value for money, but I think lately their place at the top has fallen away slightly...
It depends on your main uses and also if you require anything specific from the receiver, such as video upscaling...They all have their strengths and weaknesses...
I, for now, have a Marantz, which I chose for it's slightly more musical ability - live concert DVDs being my primary concern. I intend to probably change this as I put together my Naim music system, and in light of the state of affairs with Naim AV, I will probably go looking into the Pioneer (which will match my screen) or the Denons...Personally, I would much rather have a processor than a receiver, but there really is not that much choice out there....
How are the Onks priced out in Saudi ?
Steve

The Onks are priced pretty nicely here. The retail prices of the new receivers is around 15-20% less than the retail price in the US and UK. That does make them rather appealing. Processors are not sold here and they have to be ordered. Will have to research this one out

Flame,
If, in fact, you meant the TX-SR876, it's a brilliant machine that is in the process of being replaced. Onkyo are just coming out with their xx7 machines. This should mean that the 876 should be priced appropriately. For example, it's going for well under retail at many dealerships at the moment.
The 876 is an excellent machine and would probably be my choice if I had the space and sheckels. Note: big machine. Check you can fit it before buying.
