First second or so of streamed FLAC files missing?
Posted by: pemcg on 01 March 2010
I've found an interesting 'feature' with my new Uniti. After a few days, most streamed files lose the first second or so of their content, so the very start of the track is missing. It doesn't seem to happen on the first track of an album, but repeatedly happens on subsequent tracks. Power-cycling the Uniti makes the problem go away.
Anyone else seen this?

Peter,
I've moved this thread into the distributed audio room in the hope that it will get a helpful response. Have you been in contact with your dealer or with Naim?

Which version of firmware on the Uniti?

Thanks Richard
Server is TwonkyMedia Server v5.1.2 running on an Openfiler NAS (Linux). Storage is a dedicated hard drive on the server (no other software on the music drive). Wireless is a dedicated Wireless Access Point/IP subnet/SSID attached to the Openfiler NAS with no other devices normally using this subnet.
As a test I've used VNC on a MacBook on the 'music' subnet to play upnp tracks from the same NAS, and this doesn't see the problem.
Uniti firmware is 2.0.00 (it's brand new)
I can now confirm that the problem isn't track dependent, it can happen on any track of an album, and is most noticeable when jumping tracks using the 'next' button on the remote.
Not sure if it's related, but when cold the Uniti seems to take 3-4 seconds to buffer a track before it plays, but when on for a few days and the problem is showing the buffering seems much quicker, only 1-2 seconds.
