A United Christian Church Future

Posted by: DAVOhorn on 20 February 2007

Dear All,

Is this really possible after 400 years of independence from Rome?

Would all Non Catholic branches rejoin to form a united Christian Church?

Or would religious bigotry vested interest etc etc get in the way of the potential reunification of Christianity.

I feel some of the more esoteric churches would baulk at their loss of finance to Rome as many of these are multi million dollar businesses first and faith second.

Interesting to see what the head Of The Church Of England thinks of this.

Oh yeah and the Monarch too.

Blair would be up for it as his Wife would tell him to reunite the Anglican Church with Rome under the leadership of the Papacy.

Should be a fun debate .

Why would anyone believe in the Judeo/Christian God?

I think you have premise back to front

People believe in God(s)

Then they create stories (scriptures) to decribe their belief and the basis of their belief.

Then they, and others, confuse issues by refering to "my" God(s)

So, Fredrik, what I think you intended to say was "Why would anyone believe in the Judeo/Christian scriptures that describe their belief and the basis of their belief in God?"

Cheers

I've noticed over the course of my lifetime that those who claim to believe nothing (atheists) are usually quite zealous about their position, tend to ridicule theists, and display the very air of superiority about their beliefs that they claim to find so grating about theists.

Dear Don,

I chose my world with care. I meant exactly what I wrote, but will add that as far as I am concerned, in view of Deane's comment about Atheists [I am not one, but where I am going is not open for discussion just now - It is completely mainstream], that I have Christian friends, for whom I pray to "their" God, and I respect their position of faith. I do not pray for myself to their God. I cannot see any harm in calling on someone else's Deity to help them!
