Keep up Nuno, there are many fans of this record and indeed her first on the Forum. I'm off to see her in May. Indeed maybe I should get out more.

Good choice, Nuno. It's not the cheeriest album in my collection - but it is a great one.
Diccus - I'm sure you'll enjoy the concert, I saw her in a smallish marquee stage at a festival last summer and it was a wonderful set.
And no doubt ROTF will be along shortly to recommend some similar artists...

I've been close to seeing her numerous times but hopefully it will come off this time.
Don't believe all you hear about ROTF, he actually is an affectionado of Speed Death Metal - this stuff about Folk and Prog is all a Front

"Music as tough as it is gentle, as ancient as it is modern, and as coldly desolate as it is achingly intimate.. easily more contemporary and stylish than boys in skinny trousers holding electric guitars like it's 1969...They might not end up being the best-selling British all-girl group of all time, but they're well on their way to being the most charismatic and imaginative." Paul Morley, The Observer *****

The Bairns is a stunning album that shows that innovative music is alive and well. It was unquestionably the best British folk album released last year.
I can't really think of a similar artist as Rachel Unthank & The Winterset are unique. This is not comfortable listening, but it is essential listening.
There are lots of good honest folk artists around these days.
Nuno, do try to listen to Rachel Unthank & The Winterset debut album Cruel Sister - this is more conventional, but just as enchanting as the second record.
