speaker stands for proac
Posted by: woodlowkev on 07 March 2003
I am looking for some help in choosing some new speaker stands for my Proac Tablette 2000 signature speakers, I have a £200 budget so may need to look for a second hand pair. What do you recomend?

Sound Organisation Z570's work nicely and you should have some money left over to buy music.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have a pair of target stands at the moment, they are the 2 pillar design, do you know if the r1'a make much difference.

The R1s are fantastic stands. I used ProAc Response 1s on them for several years, but also tried a variety of different speakers, like Mission 760SEs and Kytes on them. They made every speaker sound bigger, faster and deeper.
These are not conventional "fill em up with sand if you want to" stands. They are pre-filled with lead shot and are very, very heavy.
Not sure they're very easy to get hold of these days...

No my stands are where the two square pillars are the same height, but turned so that so that you look at the corner. They are sand filled and cost £100 ten years ago.

are yours the solid loaded ones, with the front pillar slightly bigger than the back? They cost me about £150 - I don't know the model name.
Ah, you probably mean the Target HR series
I use them under my Diapason Micra-III's.
They're also very heavy (when filled) and were only followed by the R-series, but at about double the price!
The Target R- and HR-series are pretty hard to find on the s/h market these days...

I have a pair of Target (I believe HR) that have 3 square section pillars in "diamond" formation. Bloody heavy. They seem to work great with number of bookshelf...Missions,Kefs...I even tried ES14s on them......they seem to give a very tight, punchy bass.I would guess that they would work very well the Tablettes

Try a light weight open frame type of stand ,linn Kan stands for example. The heavy type can make the bass sound a little flat and slow.
