Beatles MFSL cds
Posted by: Right Wing on 09 February 2008
Listening tonight to Paul McCartneys Unplugged 'the offical bootleg' has given me the itch to buy the best available beatles albums (on cd).
Whats the score with the mfsl jobbies, are they worth the price, and how much does a box set of all the albums go for roughly (if one exists!).
Thanks again.

Peter,
I'd give it a few months in case the Beatles albums get the "Love" treatment. I find it inconceivable that Martins Snr/Jnr didn't go through the lot at that time.
They must be waiting for release (possibly with downloads). If so, highly likely that they will be the best if "Love" is anything to go by.

Peter, MFSL didn't issue any Beatles cd's.They went out of biz before they managed to relase any cd's.
The ones you usually see on eBay are by a Dr Ebbetts and supposedly very good soundwise. Even though I haven't heard them myself.

I have the complete set of the said bootleg Beatles CDs.
They are superb transfers from the MFSL vinyls..and are worth having not least because the first albums are the stereo versions of the albums not issued by EMI on CD. Although transferred from the vinyl there isn't one pop or crackle to be heard in the entire set.
The mixes on the vinyls are a little different to the origianls and make for interesting listening.
As has been commented on they are now selling for silly money... when I bought mine a few years ago all 14 albums cost me £50... money well spent at £3.57 per album!!!!
Having said that.... I think I would now wait for the reissues and if they are as good technically as Love..then they will be the ones to go for.
