Shame, really; Chelsea can play some beautiful footie. Drogba is just awesome, most of the time, a joy to watch.

Two ways of looking at it.

1st - Inter played Chelsea off the park.
2nd - Some of Inter's defending would have been more appropriate at a WWF event. If Chelski had got just two of the blatantly obvious penalties it could have been very different. And let's not forget Drogba was fouled seconds before his sending off.

Can you imagine a certain Mr Ferguson if that had happened to his team?

Regards,
Steve.

Steve O,

I take your point about the referee, but the blatant playacting by players on both sides throughout the game(particularly Drogba and Eto'o) didn't help. For a very big guy, Drogba
still goes down far too easily, and his reputation precedes him. Having said that, he should have had a penalty, and the sending off appeared harsh. Wesley Sneijder was head and shoulders the best player on the park. Lampard was completely anonymous....a further worry for England's rapidly diminishing World Cup hopes.

Lampard has looked out of sorts all year really.

Anonymous? Step up Joe Cole!

Anelka, once again, very poor in the big games.

Kalou showed a bit of spark when he came on. Why put Joe Cole on when he's hardly played?!

Always next year.

You really do have to ask what the refs are doing though. I'm with the angry scot, graeme souness, let them give 3 or 4 penalties a game and see what happens?

So it's a conspiracy then ! ?

And yes, Scottyhammer, Inter did play them off the park butthere can be no argument that Chelsea should have had at least two penalties. And goals win games, not performances. Just think back to the 1982 World Cup where a fabulous Brazilian side failed to reach the final and a certain Harald Schumacher "assaulted" French defender Patrick Battiston in the semi final. Surely if he'd received the punishment his challenge warranted then France would have gone on to win. But the history books won't show that - as is the case with Chelsea.

BTW, I'm a Leeds fan; notorious Chelsea haters. But as an impartial observer I feel Chelsea hard done by. Must be nice to get another £150 Million to spend on the back of that defeat though.

regards,
Steve.

As has been said above, Drogba is a notorious diver, one of the worst anywhere. No referee seeing him go tumbling to ground yet again will award a penalty unless he's 100% sure. (After all, just imagine the stick that the ref would get in the press the next day, if he'd been conned by another Drogba dive.)

Drogba gets what he deserves, in my opinion: I suspect that, over his career, he has had more unfair awards in his favour after diving, than legitimate appeals turned down.

But apparently he can no more control his diving in big games than he can his vicious assaults that get him red cards.

Matteo

How many Italian teams reached the Champions League finals last year? Or the semi finals?

( And as for Juve... )
