Light dimmers - does X10 interfere with sound quality?

Posted by: Don the deep diver on 29 November 2005

I am looking to retrofit light dimmers for my Naim HC and the X10 range looks to be very versatile, easy to install and cheap. As it uses the mains wiring to transmit commands would this effect sound quality and if so would this only be whilst active dimming is taking place?

I do not intend rewiring so I am also looking at Rako but installation is more complex. Any other experiences or suggestions?

Info on X10 is available at X10 Info

Good listening

Sounds like a wondeful system - I have recently gone the "hard wired" route but as I was doing extensive work on my house, it wasn't too much extra work.

If anyone has tried X10, I'd be interested to hear about it too, for future reference.

Cheers, Martin.

Went RAKO

Didn't find a prob with Naim but when a bulb blew it would tend to take the fuse out
of the X10 controler as well

If you just wish to replace an existing switch / switches with remote control dimmers a company called Varilight do an extensive range.
They can also be programmed to use spare buttons on an existing remote control if you do not want the dedicated remote.
