Dead Can Dance.....

Hello all,

to explain - I listen to Yahoo's LaunchCast on-line radio while at work and to cut a long story short I've re-discovered Lisa Gerrard...
I loved her work on the Gladiator soundtrack, and the album Duality get a lot of play from my 'customized' LaunchCast station.

I've been looking about on Amazon and by the sounds of things Dead Can Dance could be just what I'm after.... I've added a few of their albums into my shopping basket, but am not sure where to start!

Could you possibly check the list (which is in no particular order) and recommend.....

The Serpent's Egg
Aion
Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
Wake
A passage in Time
Into the Labyrinth

Hi.
I have a couple of albums by them.
"In to the labyrinth" would be my first choice.
It´s their best imho.
And then "serpent´s egg".
And then the live recording "Toward the within"
But frankly, I seldon listen to them anymore.
I should perhaps give them a spin....

Another vote for "Toward The Within". I have a couple of the others off your list ("Labyrinth" and the eponymous one), but the live disc is the only one I ever listen to.

I'm about to buy them (Toward the Within and Labyrinth) along with the 2-disc edition of Constantine....I bet it's been out for ages in US....from amazon.....

Yeah she has a very special voice, really good.

I prefer the tracks she sang on, on This Mortal Coil's LPs - well worth checking out.

"A passage in Time" is a great compilation. there is a new box set compilation out now as well.

my personal favourite is "Aion"

Also, their 1st album - "Dead Can Dance" and 2nd (i think)"spleen and ideal.

Lisa Gerrard's 1st album - "The Mirror Pool". She also did the soundtrack for the film "Whalerider" - this is also a great piece of music.

Brendan Perry also has a solo album - "Eye of the Hunter". if you like DCD you'll probably like this - but definately not a party album!!

I have quite an eclectic taste in music, which amuses/bemuses my gorgeous other half no end...

DCD will add to a genre I already love, but I've plenty of party music too!

I'll let you know what I think when they arrive...
