NAT 01 Question

Posted by: audiogoose on 14 January 2004

Has anyone else tried this on an old chrome bumper NAT 01? I removed, then re-inserted all the boards on the mother board of the tuner head several times as well as cleaning the connectors on the rear of the unit by unplugging and and then re-inserting the interconnects several times.
Subsequently, the tuner has sounded much better,...smoother and more natural.
Just my experience. Maybe this has been addressed before, I don't know.
I had planned to have the unit serviced and recapped. Now, I'm not sure it needs it.

That works with ALL components, not just the NATo1

I was pretty sure that others must know about this.

The NAT01 is a great tuner...I also have a Chrome Bumpered one. If it has not had a service, it must be at least 14 years old and would probably benefit from one.

At the same time you could have the wiring reconfigured so that it is the same as a modern 01, and eliminate/bypass that selector switch on the PSU, and avoid passing the signal through two sets of interconnects.......when mine was done (about 18 months ago)it came back sounding much better. If radio is an important source for you (presumably it is otherwise you wouldn`t have shelled out on an 01), then it is worth doing. Contact naim for further info

Laurie:
Thanks for the advice. I will see if that can still be done.
