Lorraine Desmarais - Great J***!

I was in my car a few days ago and the new Montreal Jazz station was playing a great cut - turns out it was from Lorraine Desmarais, a French Canadian jazzwoman I had heard lots of nice things about but that, for some odd reason, I never got around to listen to.
On my next trip to the music store I bought the CD, called Vision. How is it? In a nutshell, absolutely remarkable. Damn. Should've bought that one waaay sooner.
Lorraine Desmarais omposed and arranged all the cuts, and surrended herself with great musicians: Michel Cusson (guitar), Michel Donato (bass), Paul Brochu(drums) and, on a few tracks, Jean-Pierre Zanella (saxophone). There's never a dull moment, and the chemistry between all members of the quintet is obvious. Her music is lively, sophisticated but accessible, and complex but instinctive at the time.
So a strong (if late) recommendation to anyone looking for a great jazz record.
As for me... well I'll have to buy her other CDs to make up for my procrastination!
