Undecypherable Lyrics

Posted by: BrianD on 12 September 2001

If this is 'old hat' I'm sorry but I found it very amusing and thought I'd post about it.

I heard someone on the radio talking about lyrics in songs being somewhat difficult to understand.

The example given was :
LOVE CHILD - D.Ross/Supremes
(I've since listened and the piece is at 2mins 08secs)
"but no child of mine will be bearing, the name of shame of Eddie Waring. Love Child etc etc ". big grin big grin.
If you have this song, listen to it.

Eddie Waring was a very popular commentator on English Rugby matches some years ago. Now sadly passed on I believe.

Anyway, this brought to mind my first listen to
MAMUNIA - P. McCARTNEY from Band On The Run

Instead of "mamunia mamunia oh oh oh" (or whatever)....I thought it was "I'm only a, I'm only a , whore ore ore"

Anybody got any similar tales about lyrics?

I don't expect anyone with a NAP500 to participate. wink

Brian

I used to think the first line of 'Israelites' by Desmond Decker was:
"wake up in the morning, baked beans for breakfast". Strange diet those Israelites!

I am very pleased and somewhat relieved to learn that you are better now.

Perhaps I should go back on the tablets eh?

I'm donating a pint of my blood tomorrow. That'll leave me a bit 'dozy' so any posts I knock out during the evening might be better. cool
