DVD writer region change

I just bought a new dvd writer for my PC and have just found out the region can only be changed 5 times. Unfortunately I had used a couple of region 1 and 2 disks to check the drive before I knew this so I've only 3 of the 5 left before it's locked. Is there any way to override this? I'm sure I'm not the only person with a load of region 1 disks in my largely region 2 collection and I'm frankly none too chuffed.
