Ejl - Thanks for the translation, despite loving the german music machine, I can't read the language.
It looks as I will need to get down to Brighton again when the shops have got new stocks.
Some clouds in the visit....
Just missed the Music Meltdown big sale by a few days, would have saved several £.
Saw both the new Buzzocks and Captain Comatose on vinyl, after already buying them on CD. Bugger!
Still, mustn't gruumble.

O where to put new record reviews?! Here? Nick's Head thread?
These are going here 'cos they aint particularly new releases:
Martin Gretch - Open heart Zoo.
This is Radiohead basically. The guy's voice is so reminisent of Tom Yorke that you'd be hard pressed to distingush them on many tracks. The songs and arrangements are pretty Radioheady as well. If you like Amnesiac era Radiohead then this is a must buy. I don't particularly so this would get 3 of nicks heads (as would Amnesiac).
Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink
An oldy from 1971. I hadn't (to my knowledge) heard any caravan before. But this is pretty good (and great sounding) The 4 short tracks are all excellent. The long track is a bit more variable having periods of aimless miandering but the last 3 minutes are superb. When old recordings like this sound so great it makes you really depressed about the production on some modern efforts. Anyone know how this compares to other Caravan albums?

As the man who suggested Grand Drive to me I suggest a few quid spent on The Sleepy Jackson-'Lovers' may go well. Slightly more country/poppy but similar in many ways. A very summery album.
Other purchase this week, Nitin Sawhney-'Human' . Absolutely fantastic on first few listens, possibly better than Beyond Skin which is an all-time favourite of mine. Great vocals, the usual variety of tempo/style/instrumentation but an overall slightly lazy and soulful mood. It also sounds perfect-a real system tester! May be my album of the year...
Big recomendation to all.

Hedonizm isn't bad, but it's a bit over priced (although not as bad as the near criminal prices in Across the Tracks. Also, they play always seem to be playing really bad girly house music.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009QEON/ref=sr_aps_music_1_1/202-1100646-1558200
I bought my copy in Rough Trade I think?
I remember many of these first time round, and still have fond memories of "Blurt - The fish needs a bike"
Also I forgot how advanced The Pop Group were.
Well worth acquiring.

Nice album all around.
Hank- Leon Russell
On CD:

Super Furry Animals - Phantom Power on vinyl - managed to buy a pre release copy - some indifferent reviews have done the album a misjustice. Sounds great to me - more hippy dippy than RATW .
How about this for lyrics
Hello Sunshine:
"I'm a minger
You're a minger too
So come on minger
I want to ming with you"
Well, it gave me a big laugh

David,
you certainly have got some gems there.
"My Hurricane" made my day on a regular basis in '92 or so.

Arrived from various E-bayers:
Cerebus Vs. RND - The Flow Motion Setup EP
(More work from the brilliant Frederik Almquist)
And from the Cologne scene:
Ultrahigh - Get Dirty Now!
The Bionaut - Flowmotion EP
Khan - I don't want to say anything
(Promo LP)
I am still on for several other e-bay items, but am being more cautious following a disaster yesterday - near the end of the auction I accidently bid £6408 for a bunch of Chicago trax, when I meant £64.08. I couldn't find how to cancel it or retract it in time, so I won! I e-mailed the seller instantly explaining what was up and I have now got an aggrieved seller considering what action to take.
I read the e-bay rules, and it seems bids can be retracted for a manifest error like this, but not after the auction ends?
I have tried making a reasonable offer for the records, and paying the guy's costs.
Any other ideas?

Two options - 1) small claims (hardly worth the time and effort) 2) monster the b*s*a*d on the feedback (satisfaction only).
Remember that Ebay is a terrific source but will (like buying a second hand motor vehicle - buyer beware) be a gamble - some you win some you lose.

I once bought on eBay an LP that was described as mint but was nowhere near. Initially the bloke refused to communicate but in the end I threatened him with negative feedback and lo! and behold, he offered me a partial refund, or a full refund if I sent the LP back to him.
It's worth a punt.
David, you are right, you can't really retract bids once an auction has ended, but it sounds to me like you made a genuine mistake. There are very few records that are worth over £6,000. I would hope the guy sees reason, and takes a reasonable offer. I think most decent sensible people would. Let's hope you haven't found a wrong 'un! If the worst comes to the worst just don't buy them - the worst he can do is leave negative feedback for you. I bet he won't try taking you to court (is he in the UK?) Good luck!

I have been "lucky" so far most albums I have bought on E-Bay have been as advertised. Bearing in mind I only buy mint or near mint, the albums I have bought (about 10) have all been OK until now.
Like Mike says its a sort of gamble, but most sellers seem to have due regard to their descriptions.
I have threatened -ve feedback but still have had no response.
Still you live and learn,I don't think it will stop me buying in future.

have you tried tried Joerg Burger's (aka the Bionaut) other works? "Kangmei" (by his alter ego "The Modernist") is an excellent record IMHO.
