Dom,

More brain trouble

The Source LP I was thinking of was in fact :

Source - Organized Noise

The Source Experience is also good, also by R. Leiner, but not so much like the Fourth Sign.

I can see several listed on WWW.GEMM.COM, and have seen them occasionally in second hand shops.

They were both on LP and CD

Good luck hunting.

Is that a Jack'n'chill album, or a 12 inch? What's it like? Their "Jack that house built" is one of my favourite tracks ever, and has the best use of sampling ever IMHO as well - oh, and the guy was from my then hometown as well - bonus...

My last arrivals on CD:
"Remixes" - GMS (mad as anything remixes of psy-trance bangers to make even better bangers)
"Area 69" (various, chill out, kind of like psy-trance's equivalent of freeform jazz... very VERY strange - impulse buy)
"Psychadelic summer" (Transient records psy-trance comp from my favourite club nights - Chichime at EQ, London)

Vinyl:
"True love stories" - Jilted John (original with mouse and ladders game!)

When I see it at the right price, I intend to get Audioslave's on vinyl...

When the music's over turn out the lights

EI nuevo sonido del by Chivo Borraro brilliant version of Davies Half and Half worth the price of the album on its own.

Dom

The Jack'n'Chill is a 12", with the following tracks :

Beatin' the Heat (122 bpm in the shade)
Jack'n'Chill
Dub that Dune

The main track is an instrumental that has a bit of Arabic wailing, squidgy house bass, and weaves in melodies that are vaguely familar from other genres. All this is underpinned by some classic piano chord progressions, and fairlight style orchestral stabs. There are loads of samples, as you rightly remember.

Bring back Gordon the Moron - 2 45's, no LP, where is he now?

Jilted John aka Graham Fellows is still around in the guise of John Shuttleworth. Various CDs and tapes are available including his Radio 4 programmes 'The Shuttleworths' and 'Radio Shuttleworth'. All good stuff.
