Ah yes, John Shuttleworth is still about, but what of Gordon himself?
There was a challenge / response answer single by Gordon the Moron called.... "Gordon's not a Moron', then he sank out of sight.

domfjbrown,
If you like Jack and Chill, do you have any of the Beatmasters and the Cookie Crew stuff from the same era? Rok Da House is a favourite of mine.

Urm, it's OK, but not in the same vein (I have it on NOW 11). I preferred Krush' House Arrest and Coldcut's Doctorin' the house - oh, and that Jack to the sound of the underground tune and the Royal House stuff from mid-late 88 was cool too - brings back memories of a long hot summer and a postal strike (and LOTS of mint Feast ice creams) - god, amazing memories - I actually miss that year (and being 13 again!).

Prefuse 73 - Extinguished: Outtakes
Alternate takes and beats from One Word Extinguisher. Absorb reckon it's better that O.W.E.. It's only £5, so a bargain, plus Warpmart had free shipping, so I couldn't resist.

On CD:
M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent
Took a chance on this one due to several plugs on this forum. Glad I did because this is the only new album this year that has truly amazed me. Worth getting for his devastating version of Bowie's 'Let's dance' alone.

Thanks for the reminder. I tried to get a copy of this after Matthew Robinson's excellent review but didn't have any luck. General response locally was "who ?". I'll give it another go.

On vinyl
V/A - Sister Funk
Absolutely storming funk comp, put together by Ian Wright. It's a gem, worth the admission price for 'What do you see in her' by Inell Young alone. I've had a copy of the CD for ages, but it's OOP on vinyl. Well pleased to grab a copy.

Coredump posed the query..
"David, I hope you have already discovered the 'Kompakt' label. Beautiful stuff"
Indeed I do - I have the M. Mayer - Immer CD you describe, loads of 12" on the label, and another of thier new compilations "Schaffelfieber II" is my favourite album of the year so far! A new foottapping, shuffly slant on Cologne techno.
Do you have any other insights into that scene?
I am working on The Wife to use our Nectar points to get a weekend flight to Cologne, so I can visit A-Music and Kompakt.

ITC - Sensoriel Positive Emotion - Saravati

Well, didn't exactly buy this one, it's CDR copy of a friends CD.
Harmonica Shah, Deep Detroit.
Never heard of the guy before. It's hard and raw blues, very good if one likes that stuff, 4.5 out of 5.
Sounds very good to, one gets a feeling of being at a small gig in some bar or a pub. Only the singing and harmonica goes thrue a (not so good!) PA. Electric guitar, electric bass and drums goes out "as is". When listening from another room, a couple of times I was half fooled in believing there was a real band in my music room! 4.5 out of 5 here to.

On CD:
Longview - Mercury
Touted by various critics as being something akin to Coldplay, but very disappointing IMHO.
Track 1 is the best. It goes downhill from there.
