Algers- Big Grin

Minky- I'm giving it the first listen as I type. I'm halfway through, and my initial impression is it's a major improvement over "Fold Your Hands Child".

B & S

Listened to it on Vinyl last night. One song, not sure which, was still in my head whilst showering this morning. This was a good thing as it soothed the moderate pounding inside said head from last night's frivolities. Wonderful sounding vinyl indeed. My favorite album of theirs so far.

All on vinyl.

Cooper Temple Clause.....Kick up the fire and let the flames break loose.
A new one on me. I know nothing about these guys but the albums growing on me.

Sad Rockets.....Transition
Again an unknown quantity, and had I heard it first probably woulnt have bothered, but quite OK in an odd ( to me ) sort of way.

Joe Strummer.....Streetcore.
It's sometimes possible to buy an album of a recently deceased artist for the wrong reasons, but this one stands on its own merits. If you like Lou Reeds New York, you'll love this.

Tim Burgess.....I Believe.
I dont know if this sounds like the Charlatons as I dont have any of there work. Only played one side upto yet and while OK, I havn't been in to much of a hurry to play the rest.

Ed Harcourt.....From every sphere
An excellent album, recommended to anyone.

Mostly drab, whiney and uninspired. Not for me I'm afraid, Elbow vaguely similar but rather better.

You've got it bad with those Minogues as well.

Big H,

No, I don't go into Selectadisc and ask for a 2ft 8" of vinyl, but I sometimes come back after a shopping trip with aching arms and a sore shoulder from carrying them all!

Yes, I have a definie 'gotta get 'em all' with the Minogues.

Dozy, How could I pick just one? Respondants sometimes pick out one in the middle to comment or follow up on.

Seeing your list makes me wonder what job you do that

1. pays so much that you can afford to buy all these records, and

2. gives you the time to listen to alll these you buy - surely more than once??

Haroon,

I work in admin, with part of my job managing properties, which gets me out and about, with the opportunity to go record shopping in various cities.

The Wife earns a lot more than me, and we both spend a lot, her on clothes and exercise, me on music. We are dinkies.

I listen to music all of the time, in the car whilst traveling, at home whilst interneting, and watch the TV woith the sound off listening to records.

Three this week, all good.

Natalie Merchant 'The House Carpenters Daughter'

Lambchop 'What Another Man Spills'

Willard Grant Conspiracy 'Regard The End'.

The latter bought on recommendations from this forum and it is excellent indeed. Anyone explored their back catalogue?

Lyle Lovett - "My Baby Don't Tolerate" and on vinyl, too. There's something so satisfying about receiving a big cardboard box from Diverse Vinyl and finding a nice, weighty, two-disc album inside.

This is Lyle's first album of new stuff for about 7 or 8 years and a very satisfying collection of songs it is, too. There's a sort of familiarity about it (no bad thing) and perhaps a bit less of his quirkiness in the lyrics but it's just such a beautifully sung, played and produced album. Recommended.
