On vinyl:
Bob Dylan - Rolling Thunder Revue This is a 140gm 3-LP box set with a blue vinyl 7" of outtakes, a 12"x12" 120 page book, 2 facsimile tickets, a facsimile flyer and a poster. Cost me over £60, but it's lush...
S-Express – Mantra For A State Of Mind 12"
Mortal – Autobanana/Road To Rouen 12"
Telex – L'Amour Toujours 12"
On CD:
Lennie Tristano – Lennie Tristano Underrated jazz pianist's 1956 album reissued; accompaniment by top notch band including sax giant Lee Konitz.
Quote from Tim Jones:
I own the regular, run of the mill version of this on vinyl and I think I've listened to it once in five years. I'm just wondering what the point of owning something pretty boring, except, er, recorded backwards is?
Throbbing Gristle? Boring? Tim, are you sure? I was listening to SAP only tthe other week: it's fugging' ace!!!
Do you have the original vinyl LP pressing on Industrial? If so, you're sitting on a small fortune - only 785 copies were made!
Happy New Year to one and all
Kevin
PS David – did you like that Tuxedomoon LP you bought off me?

Last two were soundtracks
25th Hour-great theme music, rest a bit thin.
Cold Mountain, excellent blue grass etc.
P.S. Ludwig-how are The Pernice Bros? One I had been thinking of.

Slint - 'Tweez' (the first one). I bought this on vinyl while at college when it first came out. Then I really liked it. Now not so sure what the point of it is.
Plastikman - 'Closer'. Not sure at first, but it's a grower, particularly the last three songs. Lots of sub-bass to test your speaker/room set up.
Two Lone Swordsmen - 'Tiny Reminders'. Liked this a lot. Very inventive and a relief from the usual choice between beats or ambience in electronica.
The Goons - Vols 21 and 22 on CD. Makes a nice relief from Slint. Includes "The Great Nadger Plague" and many other cheery nuggets.
PS Kev W - Well, from memory it's pretty dull, but in a spirit of constructive experimentation I'll give it another try tonight. Not sure if it's the original Industrial pressing - I'll have a look.

Air - 10,000 Hz Legend.

Arab Strap - The Red Thread. Great music, 'interesting' lyrics :-o
Gotan Project - La Revancha Del Tango. Repetitive. Bored after 5 tracks.
Oasis - Heathen Chemistry.
Sigur Ros - ( ). Amazing, especially the last track.
Midnight Oil - Diesel & Dust. Still sounds good today.

Neutral Milk Hotel On Avery Island
Quasi Hot Shit
CD:
Jah Wobbl's Invaders of the Heart The Celtic Poets
Puretone Stuck in the Groove (for my daughter!)
Cat Power Myra Lee
Jet Society Eighteenth Street Lounge Soundtracks
Zero7 Another Late Night
Cinerama Torino
UNKLE Psyence Fiction
Bent The Everlasting Blink
Peace Orchestra Peace Orchestra
Anne Peebles Part Time Love
The Contrail House of Moths
Anne Peebles Full Time Love
Laurent Garnier Unreasonable Behaviour

Still looking for CHICANE in the US with no luck. Lou's in Encinitas probably have them but sadly I didn't make it there while I was in San Diego at the weekend. You lot in the UK probably think it's quaint that such things are not readily available in the US. I heard a remix dub or whatever version of Kylie Minogue's Slow in a brilliant gay bar in San Diego at the weekend. Believe it or not, it still sounds fresh and new over here as it hasn't yet been released in the US even though everyone else is already sick of it.

Algers,
I know what album title you meant. Someone else must have recommended it, although I have heard one or two tracks on my favorite radio program.
Seeing that a few numb-nuts bought my awful Thievery Corp CD's on Amazon today, I will buy it. Thanks buddy.
PS- Get yourself a bowl of hot soup or tea to stay warm.

DJ Kicks and Mirror something-er-other.
Both reminded me of the stuff played in characterless yuppy martini/lounge/wine bars in the US. In fact, it's exactly what such establishments play!

I guess you now need to start looking for a new house to put them all in?

Simon,
Yes, Nick at Play in Karahangie Road in Auckland was very pleased to see me, and wanted to know whether I could come back in a few days when he had brought more stock out!
Before Christmas I emptied out all the old shoes and vacuum cleaners in the cupboard under the stairs, and got a couple of thousand records in there and now I am seriously looking at getting an extension built over the garage to have a wall to wall, ceiling to floor rack of storage - I hope the foundations can take it!

Dave,
Thanks for leaving some records in SF for the rest of us! Haight Ashbury Amoeba is certainly an impressive store. I take it you didn't make it to Berkeley?
