Brighton heads should note that 52Recs have a 40% off sale. Plenty of Warp, Ninja, and Grand Central, as well as the more specialist stuff.
On vinyl
Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra - Liberation Afro Beat Volume 1
Mark Rae - Rae Road
Mike Ladd - 5000 Miles
The Roots - Phrenology
May have to pop back without my better half, as the 'bad music' had her tugging on my arm before I had a proper look.

DAvid,
You are a music GOD.
Isn't Merzbow the king of Japanese minimalist moise nonsense? All sine waves and all that. Actually I really like that sort of stuff it, in a weird way but don't have much exposure. Have you got Ryuchi Ikeda's 'Matrix' (name? sp?). You don't fancy doing me a copy of the Merzbo do you?
cheers,
Dev
ps. PLEASE CHECK OUT the Fabio and Grooverider mix on tehcover of this months mixmag, it is excellent, especually tracks 2 & 3 (track 3 is from the new DJ Marky LP)

The last record I bought was :
Reissdorf Force - Original Sin
[More Dr Walker / Cologne electro - I just love this stuff!]
Dev, Merzbow is also great I have a lot of his stuff. I think 'Pulse Demon' might be your CoT ?
I am still watching out for the Merzbox 50 CD box set in Oxfam, no luck yet.
Do you mean Ryoji Ikeda? I don't have the Matrix thing. He is a big infrabass man, which is nearly always a good idea. Also look out for KK Null and Masonna.
On the topic the of more extreme ends of the spectrum, I had to stay at home for the dishwasher repair man, and played a few tunes in the lounge, and he came in and said he had never heard such a terrible row. This was the playlist:
Meat Beat Manifesto - ROUK in Dub
Dynamo City - A night in Hackney
Cabaret Voltaire - Nag Nag Nag
Fad Gadget - Back to Nature
Lisa Toulouse - Christ and the Pale Queens
Weihan - all the pretty little horses
Whistling Jack Smith - Tom Hark
Dr Walker & Electro Atomu - Der Stricher junge [mit der rauscherlunge]
The man told me he was a bit of a music buff, with very catholic tastes. He likes everything from Abba to AC/DC. I threatened him with Mantovani and the Hanatrashari, so he left.

Bristol Show Purchases
CD - Antonio Forcione: Touch Wood (Naim)
CD - Fred Simon: Dreamhouse (Naim)
Vinyl - Lambchop: Is a Woman (Diverse Vinyl) - Better than Nixon so far IMHO
Vinyl - John Martyn - Live at Leeds (c1975)(Diverse Vinyl); This 180g Double LP is a Landmark Recording from the Bless the Weather period. The First LP really captures that All Day Breakfast sound of Rice Krispies, Sizzling Eggs & Bacon and somewhere in the mix John Martyn, an absolute disgrace. The Second LP is Sans Fry Up, not great but captures the Concert vibe quite well. Excellent Bio Booklet inside, not sure if I'll keep it though.
CD Baby Purchases
CD - NESS: up late with people
CD - THE BOXING LESSON: radiation
CD - ULTRAVIOLET UFORIA: unleashed
Darla Records Purchases Darlashop
CD - MY MORNING JACKET At Dawn
CD - MY MORNING JACKET The Tennessee Fire
CD - PAS/CAL Oh Honey, Were Ridiculous
CD - PIANO MAGIC The Troubled Sleep Of Piano Magic

What an excellent way to ensure that hourly-paid repairmen are in and out of your house in the minimum time necessary.
You should offer your services to the US next time they need to blast a Noriega out of his compound with a hideous racket. You'd make them look like amateurs, David. In fact, that's almost worth a separate thread.
Regards,
Davie (who is awed as ever by the way you seem to listen to EVERYTHING)

My Morning Jacket - "It Still Moves" (vinyl): To celebrate the fact that I'm now able to play vinyl again thanks to a set of s/h phono cards - thanks Ray - I bought a couple of new LP's, this and the latest Lampchop. This, on first play has been a little disappointing, particularly given the rave reviews it received, maybe it'll grow on me.
Lambchop - "Aw C'mon /No, You C'mon" (vinyl): Lovely album, not quite up there with "Is a Woman" but a delightfully eclectic collection of songs and a return to the full fat band. Didn't quite get the differences between the two supposedly different albums that make up the twin set but they're both good so what the heck.
Joss Stone - "Soul Sessions" (CD): Delighted that this girl is achieving critical acclaim and decent mainstream coverage - her voice is superb and the arrangements are just spot on.
Amy Winehouse - "Frank" (CD): Really enjoyed her sets on Later and bought the album on the strength of that. Not as instantly accessible as the Joss Stone, she has nevertheless got an intriguing nasal voice that reminds me a bit of Billie Holiday. Disappointing recording, however.
Johnny A. - "Get Inside" (see Slammin Guitar thread): Wonderful new release from this guitarists' guitarist that goes from Chet Atkins to Jeff Beck and covers everything from Tiki lounge sleaze to rabid swing. Get it, it's fab.

Trojan Records - Dub Box Set
I've got a whole pile of dub LPs from the seventies and eighties but this is a great addition to the collection. It sounds like it has been digitally remastered - very clean - but the pressings are a great improvement on past efforts from this source. The music is absolutely sublime: not one filler on 3 LPs. It covers the era from the early minimlism of King Tubby through to the throw in everything AND the kitchen spoons style of Scientist. It's generally not the foundation-shaking end of the spectrum but instrumental versions of famous rhythms. Wonderful stuff.

Apart from those I now can't remember....
On Vinyl:
Band of Susans - Love Agenda
Throbbing Gristle - Mutant TG
On CD:
Throbbing Grislte - Mutant TG
The above is a the result of a bit of a cynical ploy by Mute records, as the CD has two tracks that aren't on the vinyl, and the vinyl has one track that is not on the CD! For completists and obsessives like me, this means you have to buy both formats.
This is also common practice on box set retrospectives, where the record compnay tucks in one or two unreleased tracks to get the die hard fan to shell out, even if they have 90% of the content already.
Still, after the moaning, it is good to see TG having a new lease of life, with the TG box set, TG + box set , the RETG live show coming up - perhaps TOTP next?
DS
OTC - Roger Devlin - 'B' side to Hollywood, which doesn't have a title
