To tighten or not to tighten

In a hi-fi kit, different degrees of tightness are required depending on the components involved.Expressions like "Linn tight" or a bit tighter than "finger tight" have been used in this forum.
I would like to tell you about a recent experience I had.
I am still in honeymoon with a stand-alone CDX and a Fraim I added to my system 4 months ago.
The sound was terrific, musical, involving. But the bass was slightly blurred. After moving the Mission 753s speakers a bit without success, I took the grilles off and noticed that the bolts that hold the drive units to the baffle were loose. So I tightened them all (tweeter, mid and bass). It was late in the evening so I just had a quick listen, and thought the bass was fine.
The following day, I was expecting to rediscover my CD/LP collection but the sound was off, stressed and harsh.
I got hold of the speakers User Manual and found out that the tweeters should not be tightened.
I readily untighted the tweeter and also a bit the mid units and the music came back, this time with controlled bass.
I would appreciate to learn your experience in this matter and which components benefit from full tightness and normal tightness.
