I am so surprised!
Put this on thinking it would be boring!

But, not only has this passed my audition for ‘musik to bubble bath to’ but I’m actually enjoying this orchestra. Very spacious sound, nicely balanced, great use of drums here and there, even the brassy bits have swing, and it's got me relaxed, this is really quite good! : )

Or is this just the delirium from my flu head fever?

Hi Oliver,

I have that title as well (also on XRCD), which led me to pick up a few of her earlier albums.

Best regards,
Pat

Totally agree with you My Vinyl copy went years ago so only have this on CD now but still love it all the same

I bought a copy of this very album two days in Oxfam for £2.00. I went to play it last night only to discover the lp is warped... Confused

I believe from what I have heard that it is one of her best to date?
Mine is in the post, what do you think to it?

It is certainly one of her best. Strangely some of the arrangements make me think she has listened to and enjoyed Basia Bulat's debut album, it seems to share some of that atmosphere which can only be a good thing, of course. Nonetheless it remains very much an Eddi elpee.

It is very polished and yet does not sound over produced. You get the feeling it was well rehearsed and then they went for it and captured the best take.

I'm convinced you'll not be disappointed - for once, the critics are not wrong: this is indeed an excellent album.

Hi Oliver,

I didn't realize that. I just purchased both of these. Even though there are a few duplicate songs, they are so nice to listen to I don't mind. Smile

I'm listening to a lot of Nina recently. Hearing Nina or Billie sing 'Strange Fruit' is one of the most moving and emotional moments on any recording for me.

Bert Kaempfert soporific or what, I'm surprised you were still awake to put the second record on.
Sunday mornings 2 way family favourites we as a family used to listen, me, ever hopeful of a "decent' record. I was disappointed more times than not.
BK, Edmondo Ross ,runaway train, Pink Toothbrush etc etc, and the authorities wondered why "the yoof" listened to illegal Pirate Radio.

...And now on vinyl:-
