Definite shades of Fiona Apple, which is no bad thing in my book.

Thomas Dolby - The Golden Age of Wireless

Picture Note: This was from a gig at the Marquee around 1981. In the background to my left is Matthew Seligman on Moog bass, to my right is Glen Skinner, now quite a well-known producer who was DJing for us that night. On the screen is Lene Lovich, a shot from the Radio Silence video. If you’re thinking 1981 is a bit early to be using a PC onstage, you’re right–it’s the PPG 340/380 WavKomputor. The Roland is a JP8.

Another library CD:-

She has a simple but effective style, some good musicians too.

On spotify:-

Initially sounds a lot more melodic than Miles and Lontanos normal jazz offerings. Smile Winker
Even a Rush cover on this album.

This seems to qualify as jazz for people who don't like jazz.
Is this album typical of their output?
Which act are they supporting Lontano?

This grows on you as you play it Moore - have done so 5 times now and it is one Christy's best.

Impressive engineered sound quality (imho) on very ordinary CD version, music's really not bad either! : )

Glad to see someone playing this album as I think it is going to be one of my favourites of 2009 when I come to the end of the year.

Howard, I suppose I understand why this might grab you a bit more. Yes it is probably fairly typical but they do not always do prog. Currently listening to them doing some Nirvana.

I found that their live experience blew the albums away so I like forward to seeing them when they support the Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall.

Why? Icey cold futuristic beats and melodies that strain with the push of humanity trying to break through, think of the film AI and that poor poor robotic little boy crying at the bottom of the ocean for all eternity.

Glad to help and here is another recomendation...

The Sole Inhabitant - (+DVD) [Live] [PAL], details here. I have the single CD and really enjoy how TMDR builds up the layers of each track. The bassline in I Live In A Suitcase really give the speakers a workout and much better than the Astronauts & Heretics original. Here are some videos Smile
