Why? First composer that I instantly liked and Bernstein's Symphony #2 is fantastic.

Me too! : )

My copy came in the post yesterday morning (from eBay), are these dutch pressings really that rare?

The cover on mine is a bit dog-eared, and the record was very grubby.
But after the usual ritual clean up in the RCM, it turned into a near-mint copy that plays very well. (don't you just love it when that happens?) Really not bad for just under £5 ; )

NN,

I doubt it's rare. Originally I was looking for a UK copy and was told that since it was a large run, the production was split to UK and Dutch plant.

According to the seller, he prefer the Dutch version over UK claiming it's a bit more upbeat.

A friend with the UK pressing hasn't head the Dutch pressing, but he told me it's a natural sounding record over US ( which I think is really a dog's poo ).

The first pressing usually is better than the consequent run, too.

now chilling on Art Tatum on 45 RPM.

Hi nymph,
There is sometimes some useful info written between the run-out grooves on LPs.
