Why? Because the start of this symphony reminds of the theme to The Godfather and thats good enough Smile

I love the SACD redbook layer of this disc. It just opens out more for me Gianluigi than the normal cd.

The record is so good that i'll try the SACD edition as well!
I think that both players and recording here are at top.
A good record at last.
Thanks a lot again!

Saw him support John Martyn years ago and followed him since (in a non-starkerish manner). Ordered his latest online today, playing this in anticipation.

Took a bit of a punt with this, as was persuaded by the blurb from an online vendor - Kate Royal Midsummer Night. Combines some relatively well known pieces with other less well known, essentially love songs from the 20th Century operatic canon. This lady has a good set of pipes and presents the material well. I thought she was just another of those easy on the eye sopranos (definitely not a Boyle-r) that seem to command so much undeserved praise, this disc proves otherwise. It is also interesting to listen to something other than Mozart, Puccini or Verdi.

Not the purists choice, but my favourite trane album Kuma, I've just metaphorically thrown it on the Linn...
