Daryl Hall - Sacred Songs
Produced by Robert Fripp in 1977 and not released by RCA until 1980

Robert commented thus in the sleeve notes...
"Hall had the best pipes of anyone I've ever worked with, at any time. He moved effortlessly through the idioms he knew, and then out the other side to those he didn't. He improvised as easily as any instrumentalist I've ever met, and better than most. This singer was a dream. But a singer always has a problem. This is because a singer has a manager, and a manager draws his income from the commercial success of his artist".
I wonder how many artists have bit the dust due to 'management guidance'. Fortunately, Daryl is thriving still and I'd like to see the great man again.

In desparation I copied the CD to see if that would work (has in the past with non-players), and it does indeed fare better.

This one looks interesting Adrian, have not seen this series either - is the sound 'hyper magnum'?
I'm glad you guys with 555s are having no problem playing this.
Those with lesser machines may fare otherwise, so I thought I might sound a note of caution to potential purchasers. On the strength of seeing it here, I promptly ordered it, and my CDS2 (with PIC upgrade fitted recently) won't read it.(Though my cheapy £15 s/h Technics off eBay will).

Huwge,
Is there an album of her's you suggest for a first timer? She does a duet with the Dex Romweber Duo I like, so I was thinking of checking out one of her albums.
Thanks.

Pat,
sorry for the late reply - The Greatest is not a bad entry point, but my two favourites are Moon Pix (esp. Moonshiner) and the Covers Record, which I prefer to Jukebox. The Dark End of the Street EP is also worth a listen.
