"The Most Beautiful Sound Next To Silence"...?
Posted on: 12 July 2009 by Trubble Revill

An album with a stunning first side and a hopelessly mediocre second side. A bit like Velvet Underground 3 in that respect.

First sampled when we were in New Zealand, this music is beautiful, soulful and powerful with reggae, hiphop, jazz, soul and ska inluences.

Superb album. I have live at the matterhorn also. The tracks are all very long and it's a bit lost on me Confused

On ECM - a not well known but rather superb recording from New Zealand born, Sydney based pianist Mike Nock. Made in 1981 with Eddie Gomez on bass and Jon Christensen Drums.

Another Mike Nock recording with Dave Liebman. This is on Birdland Records (the record label of mine and MilesSmiles favourite jazz store in Sydney). This recording won the Aussie Grammy (An Aria) for Best Jazz recording in 2007 - Duologue.

I don't really get Fat Freddys Drop, Australian Reggae Confused so its in my to give away or sell pile at the moment. Strange music taste isn't it.

Now this slice of European Minimal Techno is well, stonking!!

Bought this remastered with 2 extra live cuts for $5 as a nostalgic lark - quite pleasantly surprised at the level of musicianship on it.

BOOH is a great album, unfortunately for me I over played it at the time of release, and as such, very rarely gets played, these days.
