Hi Mike

I liked American Doll Posse, but, yes, I think this is better as I like her work with John and Matt on bass and drums.

I believe Gordon (Voltaire) would comment he isn't thrilled with the new one, but I am not sure how he felt about ADP.

Try to listen to some samples to help make up your mind.

regards,
Jeff A

I was more dissapointed with the artist than the album to be honest. I am not a fan of the "it it ain't broke..." school of thought. I expected more of an artist who has clearly shown over the years that she is capable of soo much more. I am a huge fan of Tori Amos, always have been, always will be, but at this point in her career I think she ought to be reaching out in new directions. I'm not suggesting a complete change, more that she should be challenging both herself and her audience.

American doll posse is an excellent example of my point. Tori Amos embraces the concept album in a sprawling 23-song oratorio. Firing across the American psychological, social, and political landscape, she takes on the state of the world, war, and feminism. To help her, she adopts five personas--her American Doll Posse--who take their characteristics from Greek gods. An excellent album imho!

That she took five paces backwards and released an self indulgent filler of an album is almost as painful a betrayal as Lewis Caroll negating a masterpiece of literature with the 'Bobby Ewing' denouement "my what a curious dream". Lazy, hurtful and almost unforgivable.
