Big H, 'Somewhere,somebody' by any chance ?
The track was Way Down Deep as it has superb bass on it that goes way way way down deep. We were testing out a Nap 500 at the time.

I was introduced to this one track by MilesSmiles as we used to use it to audition CD players in his system when I lived in Oz.

For some reason some of the bass seems to be missing on my recording. Confused Winker

I'll lend you my version then. MilesSmiles gets even more bass out of that tune than we were getting. He does have some mean, bassy speakers - Wilson Sophia Mk2.

Not a bad album. I'll give it 8.5/10

That's very harsh, based on tracks 7&8 alone I would give it 12 out of 10. Razz

Last weekend I brought this disc to our monthly Sydney Audio Club meeting - topic of the day was sub woofer testing. A moment of truth that not all of them passed. Big Grin

Ramsey Lewis: An hour with the Ramsey Lewis Trio
'59 Release. Argo Label Stereo.

Wonderful performance and a decent fidelity for early stereo recording.

It's got a very nice club feel in spite it's a studio recording.

Ramsey Lewis: Salongo
'76 Release. US Columbia.

That's a good mark from me. I have only listened once though, plus Way Down several other times.

playing the first 4 lp sides: Symphonies 1, 2 and 3. Plus Overture 'Fidelio'

Dead-mans vinyl...(?) a strong smell of pipe tobacco! But 'The Nine' Symphonies set out on this eight LP box-set produced EMI in 1981, and despite the smell, remain in quite minty-new looking condition.

From an original Digital master recording.
Suitable for use with all conventional stereo playback equipment:
the greater improved sound quality will be most evident on high quality equipment.

That reads ominous i know, but i'm not letting it put me off...
I shall give Kurt Sanderling every opportunity to impress and entertain : )

Just found a nice copy of this album in my favorite charity shop, the neo-prog investigation begins.
