Oscar Peterson with Strings: In a Romantic Mood
'55 release. The original Verve mono.
My copy is all faded so the red lipstick on the cover art now is greenish gold.

Oscar does pretty tunes.

Herbie Hancock: Empyrean Isles
'64 release. 70's Blue Note reissue. Stereo.
Doesn't have the rich tone of mono original, but it's a clean copy.

Hello Jeff,

What do you think of the sound quality on this one? Some reviews reckon it's poor compared with her earlier albums. I hope it isn't pumped up and compressed as the material sounds very nice indeed.

Regards

George.

Hi George
That was my first listen and was under headphones, I noticed no issues at all, but note I was hearing an amazon mp3 download. I have become less critical of "sound" over the past 5 years and generally just listen to the music - there was nothing obviously wrong with the recording to my ear.

The music sounds "fresh" ie: uses some beats and a bit rockier sound than her two previous releases I have.

be well,
Jeff A

Almost bland, new-age guff, but it is pretty, and I'm enjoying listening to it this morning.
