Miles,

There's something really cool about listening to the old jazz records on a record player.

Good tunes transcend the shortcomings of the medium.

Couldn't agree more with you, one of these days I will move back to the US and give them all a good spin.

On spotify:-

Pleasant enough, but she doesn't have that "extra" that will make me buy.
Often wondered why people don't record under their own name.

Inherited this off my father.

A very nice live recording, very natural sounding.

David, this is the companion disc for the one you posted, if you don't have it also, it completes the "set".

Jeff, good morning.

I had a chance to see Hancock last month performing here with Lang Lang (music for two pianos) but since it was going to be mostly Gershwin I let my wife go with a friend instead.

Good Morning, Haim

I am not sure if I would go see Herbie at this point or not. In your instance, I am not a real Gershwin fan, so I too would have declined. His last couple discs have had some interesting things on them, but I think the only thing that could enthuse me to go live is if he and Christina Aguilera were together. see below

My passion for Herbie is mostly late 70's/early 80's with Ron Carter and Tony Williams. A highlight in my concert history is the 1982 Mount Hood Jazz Festival when I saw Ron, Herbie, Tony and a very young (21 yoa) Wynton Marsalis close the Saturday night session on a very warm August night. Branford joined them at times as well and they "recreated" a few from their Mile's quintet history. It was spellbinding.

Enjoy your Sunday, Haim.

best regards,
Jeff A
