Dean...

Hi Dean, I still have my 20 yr old original of the LP plus many 12 inchers including Fools Gold and those from the Lp and Sally Cinamon, Elephant Stone etc. Fools Gold captured the critics praises but it was the album I liked best. And when Silvertone released the LP on double 45 LPs, I bought that. And guess what, I now have the re-mastered box set too! Muppet maybe, but for the music and the memories it's still the standout album of my last 40 years

well, thanks for askin, Martin Winker I kind of still am (although my priorities have somehow shifted...). With all the alternatives I have tried (and not reported, here), I have always been thrown back to my Maggies as the better alternative. Close (and in some respect better) were Analysis Audio and Bösendorfer. A real alternative is the Shahinian Diapason, but too expensive and VERY shaky support situation. Have bought a subwoofer, a week ago, and am positively surprised about the results. Give it a month...

cheers
Stefan

A great way of picking up four early Giuffre albums for under a fiver. It would please me no end if one day, Jimmy's name was as revered as Mingus, Monk and the like. This material still sounds fresh fifty years on.

This was one of my earliest "favourite" jazz CD's. As you say Stefan, great for late night listening. It is also nice to hear the Bass taking the lead tune in places. And of course, some lovely guitar from Abercrombie.

Jamie,

Your not a muppet mate (well unless its Animal thats cool!) I've just bought the twentieth anniversary LP (cannot not afford the box set Frown) and have quite a few 12's as well including the stunning Sally Cinnamon and of course my 20 year old copy of the first album but strangely not the second, must rectify that. They were a great band and as the saying goes "those who burn twice a bright burn half as long" are you listening Strolling Bones Smile

On ECM - this is what this label can do so well. Bringing together of world, classical and jazz into a beautiful and unique album.

Very enjoyable Oboe Concertos, performed on period instruments, the closeness of recording is superb, wish all classical vinyl was as good as this : )
