Nigel - great choice. Do you have Personal Mountains as well. Recorded a week before Nude Ants in Tokyo, it is a superb set. The recording quality is better than Nude Ants. For some reason it was not released for 10 years by ECM but it is widely regarded as one of Jarrett's best albums. Certainly a very valuable documentation of the European Quartet.
They are both already packed up but hope to see them soon again on the other side of my move.

Okay, it’s ordered!
Thanks for this recommendation guys!
I like the cover picture of (art-decco?) architecture,
and the condition is so much like my house
…could use a coat of paint! : )

Brahms: String Quartets Op 51, nos 1 and 2, in C minor and A minor. LaSalle Quartet
Brahms, usually at his beast in the chamber music. These are knotty, enigmatic, works full of shifting themes currents and textures..It seems Brahms saved his most accessible melodies for his large scale works. So no great sweeping melodies here.
He was at once the ascetic architect and gypsy vagabond . Conservative yet hyper romantic. He was a man who believed in nothing. His music doesn't look heavenward towards the almighty, but down to earth,... and straight ahead.
Nice to finally get in some listening time..
