Nils Lofgren - Loner: Nils sings Neil

Currently being played by two members of the household in different parts of the house. My wife does not know where to go and hide to get away from the The Beatles. Little does she know this is just the beginning of a pretty intense and long listening season.

There seems to be a bit of a Beatles fest going on. I wonder why?

Just wanted to post something about the Beatles on 09.09.09!

Regards,
CB

Over at the Hoffman forum there are 29 different Beatles threads on the go. There is even one explaining 10 different ways to care for your mono box set. One of the threads is on its 22nd version. They sure can talk a lot about the Beatles over there.

How do you think it stacks up against the first transfer to cd version?

It's years since I have listened to the first version of all the early Beatles albums and in fact most Beatles albums have never been played on my system. I did some A/B stuff a couple of nights back and on Abbey Road and Pepper, the new versions were vastly superior. I think there has been a lot of thought and care gone into both the mono and stereo boxes. I have got a lot of listening to do between the monos and stereos. At the moment I am favouring the stereos. I just watched the DVD that pulls together all the short movies on each disc onto one DVD and it really reminds you just how pioneering they really were.

"A beautifully personal take on the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim -- served up in a set of solo recordings by pianist Fred Hersch, who really moves the tunes from their bossa roots into a space that's all his own! Hersch often takes a core theme of a tune, and works it over with a very different rhythmic pulse -- one that's often a bit mellower than famous takes on Jobim, turning the tune over in shifting patterns of sentiment and modernity -- far far away from standard bossa modes, but with a similar undercurrent of sadness. Titles include "Luiza", "O Grande Amor", "Por Toda Minha Vida", "Insensatez", "Desafinado", "Corcovado", "Modinha/Olha Maria", and "Brigas Nunca Mais"."

munch,

I would have loved to seen them live at their prime.
One of my favourite album of theirs is the Live in Japan CD. Everytime I put on, I can listen the whole album through. ( with excellent drum solo by Sonny Emory )

Maurice White is extremely talented.
Recently, when i started to listen to a lot of Ramsey Lewis' records, I realised that White was Ramsey's drummer. ( finally got the connection of Sun Goddes between them! )
Now.. here's another classic. Smile

I bet you were there when they played Sun Goddes!!

"Tell me, what are your feelings about Big Brother?"

"I hate him."

"Well you must love him. It's not enough to obey."
