Sorry guys - it is one of my biggest bug-bears when people don't describe an album that is not immediately obvious from the cover. It was quite late though.............

First listen to this that has just come in the post. Typical Muse fare, anthemic singalong tunes - but hey, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!

I only have 10,000 days, how does it compare?

Hi Howard,
I go through phases of either 10,000 Days, Aenima or Lateralus being my favourite album of theirs. Undertow is not quite so good in my opinion. Overall I still think Aenima is their best album, but all three I have mentioned are really superb. Aenima is heavier than 10,000 Days, but if you like what you already have you will not be disappointed. Hardcore fans seem to favour Aenima for some reason. I would say "go for it"! And buy Lateralus at the same time anyway.
Cheers, Mark

Let us know what you think Denis ??
As Adrian said earlier, a grower and a night time listen for atmospheric assistance. I think to sit for 55 mins is Steven's biggest challenge he has made to fans so far. I must say i'm getting a bit fed up with the 'Drop D Tuning' that has continued on this album. For me, Porcupine Tree are not a Metal Band and Steven should stop using these derivative and safe power chords. There is no need to sound heavy in this way, so I hope he uses his considerable imagination to create a new PT direction. 'Stupid Dream' and 'Lightbulb Sun' have shown that intelligent rock music, with killer melodies can be written.

Denis - was the special edition worth the 60 quid?
I have played the album again and it improves on second listen. Time Flies is the best thing there and the 11 min version of that is good ( I had not been too excited by the short version of Time Flies when they released that).
It is a grower which is often a good thing as that means longevity. I like the idea of a late night listen - I think the album will be suited to that as there appears to be a fair amount of acoustic PT style guitar on it.
