Featuring something of a dream team...
On the left channel:
Ornette Coleman – alto saxophone
Don Cherry – pocket trumpet
Scott LaFaro – bass
Billy Higgins – drums
And on the right:
Eric Dolphy – bass clarinet
Freddie Hubbard – trumpet
Charlie Haden – bass
Ed Blackwell – drums
Jackson Pollock's 'White Light', visible through a cut out in the sleeve, sums it up pretty well (!)

will be seeing this fine local-based group on Friday October 24
This year is a leap-October, isn't it ?

The darn ticket says Fri the 23rd so I guess that's it then. (plus it was 2:49 am when I typed that originally, sorry)

That sound very interesting Chief might have to look out for a copy.

Dean, It's well worth tracking down - not something I could just sit and listen to, but great for having on while doing other things.
I seem to spot something new in it every time I hear it, and it makes something like this sound tame by comparison...

Chief, I 'll join you with a little Ornette. I find this one quite easy to listen to as it has a fair amount of melody and a great album. Saw him a few months back at Meltdown which was great.

I remember reading about Ornette being director of this year's Meltdown, and now I'm envious. : )
Now this, including a strangely subdued Trane, who happened to be in the studio at the same time...

Another awesome line up:
Johnny Griffin — tenor saxophone
John Coltrane — tenor saxophone
Hank Mobley — tenor saxophone
Lee Morgan — trumpet
Wynton Kelly — piano
Paul Chambers — bass
Art Blakey — drums
