On vinyl
The personnel on the album is the "American Quartet" made up of Jarrett, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian. It was recorded at the Theater am Kornmarkt, Bregenz in Austria in 1976.

I didn't know about Maze at all, but from what I read from AMG I think I'll give it a try. I like Philly soul very much.
Thanks munch for the suggestion.

Joan Armatrading - Show some emotion
Why? If I were to issue my hifi with an order it would be 'show some emotion'. This wonderful album has emotion and intimacy and passion; well written songs and Joan displaying a considerably improved vocal range since her debut. It is both timeless while also invoking that wonderful musical ambience of the 70's.
I don't imagine it would ever make my desert island discs top ten but a splendid way to pass half an hour on a sunny bank holiday acompanied by a chilled glass of Wolf Blass, a tatty copy of 'Ezra Pound- Selected poems 1908-1969' and the sound of my labrador snoring.

Fine vocal interplay between the falsetto of Somerville and the husky tones of guest singer Sarah Jane Morris, esp on "Lover man"
I wholeheartedly agree, a great album.

Ah Dean, slightly off topic but you have brought back wonderful memories of the much missed Tony de Vit (HIV related death).
I was a stalwart of Turnmills when he had his residency in Trade in 1993.

Do you have any of the Trade albums? (Hard house) If not I recommend...

Resisting the urge to play hard house at illegal volumes with...
Side three:
1. Play Me 4:45
2. Canta Libre 5:27
3. Morningside 5:35
4. Song Sung Blue 4:53
5. Cracklin' Rosie 2:47
Why? Neil Diamond gives a master class in live performance. Enough said.

On Vinyl
Weather Report's Jaco Pastorius on bass and Wayne Shorter on soprano saxophone, and Herbie Hancock on electric piano.
Challening, beautiful, eclectic.

Because it's perfect to feed out to the garden. Magical combination of great background music, but if you stop and listen it rewards on other levels...

On the black stuff
Amazing solos by Zawinul and Shorter, of course, there's Jaco, the indisputable master of the fretless bass.

Trade at Turnmills was my generations 'Studio 64'. I was genuinely gutted when it closed. I spent many a happy weekend in the 90's doing the clubbing triangle of 'Love muscle @ The Fridge', 'Trade @ Turnmills' and 'DTPM @ Trocadero'.

On Vinyl. One of my favourite albums of all time. Always sounds fresh. If you dont know them The Yellowjackets are an American jazz fusion quartet.

I purchased this album when it was first released back in the late 1970's, and I still think its one of Sanata's best. Alongside Abraxas and Caravanserai
