Sadly Eberhard had a stroke in June 2007. He was therefore unable to continue as a member of Jan's touring band.

I have seen the Garbarek group 3 or 4 times and always with Eberhard and his playing was sensational. He has a bass sound that is instantly recognisable as his own. Listen carefully to Kate Bush - The Dreaming, Hounds of Love, Sensual World and Aerial and you will find him there on some, not all, of the tracks.

PS - on Aerial he is the bass on the tracks = π and Prologue.

That is sad news. Since my inception into the world of ECM, Weber's music has become very important to me.

Am I to assume that is Yuri Daniel on bass on 'Tao'?

If you mean Tao on the Dresden album, then he is credited with the complete album, so yes.

Sorry, yes that is what I meant. Cool His playing on that particular track caused me to miss Weber.

May I ask you what you think about the sound ?
The remastering of these box sets has been much discussed. I've got only one - 1976-1982 - and let's just say I don't listen to it so often, and that's unfortunate.

Thanks
Maurice

Give me sometime on this question. I have bought all 4 box sets and I still play my original CD's as they are better. Part of the reason on the first three boxes is that I do not like these albums being remixed and I grew up with the original mixes so that is what I want to hear. Also the mastering is not as good and compressed. I think the 70-75 box is the best of the 3 and worth getting for the extras.

With the live albums I do not mind a remix. So I have played some of Seconds Out so far and it was fine. I would not say the remastering is better from what I have heard so far but more listening required which I will do Sunday and come back to you.

Cheers
