My 2 favourite from the Modfather. I really like 22 Dreams, great album, his best IMHO.

Jeff,
Thanks for that, listening to his MySpace now (pretty good; i'm detecting a bit of Lennon & Runt influences). Must confess I was unaware of him, but see he has worked with some of the best artistes. My H&O LP's only covered the 70's, until I found the Robert Fripp produced "Sacred Songs" CD. BTW, I just checked the credits for "Beauty on a Back Street" and Jeff Porcaro played drums/electronic drums.

I have to listen some more to qualify it as his best, but it certainly is a great contender.
Unfortunately it's past 23.00 hours here, so I'm commanded to turn the volume down...
One other thing: while I was at King Kong Records discovering these, there was some music playing which I identified as maybe the new album of Porcupine Tree, but it turned out to be the new Muse-album. At least 1 song was like it came right off of a PT-CD...

Played it earlier on the little CD player I have in my service appartment, it's really time to move into the new house and get the system set up.

The Blue Nile site has been down for a few weeks, so I hope that means a relaunch soon. With the bands output record though, I'm being optimistic. I wonder if the next album's called Procrastination

Denis,
Heidi and I were acquainted with Warren when he lived in Portland. Heidi took some photos for him and we often crossed paths and shared some time in the clubs. Classy man and an incredible musical historian. We were sad to see him leave the area.

Gian,
That must have been a very long dog walk but it did you some good since you started listening to classical music again.

Haim

To be honest Mark I have had the Hoover on for most of the album. I will have to listen again when all my chores are done...

If the review in the Times was anything to by maybe it is better to listen to with the hoover on

The title of Faulkner’s sophomore album refers to the doctors who repaired the broken wrist that threatened to end his guitar-playing career. They did a fine job, as his acoustic strumming sounds unchanged. Sadly, so too does his banal songwriting. Lipstick Jungle is a car crash of harmonica, brass and unchained caterwauling, First Time breaks records for lyrical clichés and the rest combines the over-emoting of James Blunt, the vanilla vocals of Snow Patrol and the wow factor of Alistair Darling.

Yes, I read that review yesterday - which is partly why I asked. Still, that's all it is - one person's review. He could come round and review some in my collection - he'd know what suffering mean't then.

Moonlight Drive, feeling like a dope, as the extent of Krieger's influence on Tom Verlaine finally dawns on me!

Two recently discovered little gems to start the day:
Brett Anderson, Wilderness
Intimate and romantic. Very involving.
God Help The Girl
I fell instantly for this one. 60's inspired chamber female vocal pop from Stuart Murdoch (Belle And Sebastian). Sweet and really stunning! Guest appearance from Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy).
Never heard of Catherine Ireton before, but I look forward new material from her. Such a wonderful voice.

I am a sucker for those kind of reviews all the time. Have found some of my favorite music like that.
I am looking forward to getting it. The first one is played frequently and thanks to this forum, as I first heard of NF when some people saw him open for a less-than-stellar-that-night John Mayer.
Good Sunday, everyone.

Dear Haim!
I put down the thing when Willy died in july.
Sitting in this room is pain.
Btw i started restoring the old attic and i hope that memories will fade soon leaving the best part of it.
A great record to start it all over again.

Jeff - these have to be taken with a pinch of salt, no doubt. Where I begin to believe them are when it is consistent across a wide range of reviews in different papars. I will give it a listen tomorrow on Spotify to make up my own mind.
Are you up early or up late?
A good Sunday to you as well. Beautifully sunny here with an autumn freshness in the air, the last days of summer.
