I am a sucker for those kind of reviews all the time. Have found some of my favorite music like that.
Jeff - these have to be taken with a pinch of salt, no doubt. Where I begin to believe them are when it is consistent across a wide range of reviews in different papars. I will give it a listen tomorrow on Spotify to make up my own mind.
Are you up early or up late?
A good Sunday to you as well. Beautifully sunny here with an autumn freshness in the air, the last days of summer.
Adrian
Hi Adrian
Up way too early, and thanks for the kind wishes.
The key line, for me, in the NF review was about his acoustic strumming remaining the same. To me the first album was all about his guitar and the rhythms he generated. The first disc was not a work of lyrical genius.

Bright and sunny early autumn here, as well. I think it is so cool Oliver is back near you again. Glad you both had a nice day yesterday.
Delivering an extra set of speakers I have to a friend in the beautiful rolling hills of wine country in Oregon today. Should be a glorious day.
Be well

Brett Anderson, Wilderness
Intimate and romantic. Very involving.
God Help The Girl
I fell instantly for this one. 60's inspired chamber female vocal pop from Stuart Murdoch (Belle And Sebastian). Sweet and really stunning! Guest appearance from Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy).
Never heard of Catherine Ireton before, but I look forward new material from her. Such a wonderful voice.
Both sound like something I would like ... thanks, added to the list.

oldneil,
Did you ever watch the documentary film Warren made of the recording of his final album the Wind? So touching watching it and some great footage of duets with Springsteen etc.

Dear Haim!
I put down the thing when Willy died in july.
Sitting in this room is pain.
Btw i started restoring the old attic and i hope that memories will fade soon leaving the best part of it.
A great record to start it all over again.![]()
Gian,
I am very sorry to hear about willy, I did not know.
Perhaps a new pup will make things easier? Winkyincanada had recently a new litter and was very kind to offer me one of his dogs though I declined because the time was not right (you can see them on page 52 of Nice Photos on the Padded Cell).

Jeff, you can listen to quite a few songs from God Help The Girl on YouTube. May I recommend:
Musicians, Please Take Heed
Perfection As A Hipster (with Neil Hannon)
Come Monday Night (official video)
I Just Want You Jeans
A Down And Dusky Blonde
That might well be easier on Spotify, but hell, I cannot access it freely from here so have no clue.

I don't get Spotify in the US either.
I don't recall seeing an email from you, Maurice. Can you resend to uagain51@hotmail.com
My filter is on strong and perhaps I didn't recognize it. Use subject : Joe Henry and I should be able to retrieve it.
