I enjoyed the first listen (I am an avid PY fan). But 28 minutes is not good value even within the context they were recreating. I am sure I will enjoy it though.

Pete Yorn

Posted on: 04 October 2009 by Chief Chirpa
Jeff, I think I've seen you post at least a couple of Pete's albums here, but I only have Break Up (Scarlett must have talked me into it).

It's only the second shortest album I've bought recently, and though it's kind of lightweight, I like it. Which other(s) of Pete's would you recommend?

I'll have to dig out Plans and/or Transatlanticism next, but not before this 33 minute return to form:

My favorites by PY are his first "musicforthemorningafter"

and the newest "Back and Forth"

Day I Forgot and Nightcrawler would be next in line.

Pretty much east coast (Jersey) singer/songwriter rock and roll. Nothing profound, but done very well.

Thanks very much, Jeff. I think I'll give his first a go - usually the best place to start.

I've got to be up early, so better make this the last one for the night:

Howard Eliott Payne

another low minutes wonder at about 35 minutes, but one of my top 10 purchases of this year. This falls into the Americana category, I am already anticipating his future work. *** note - just released a live set at iTunes, downloading now ***

Not the remastered version, unfortunately. But I'm looking forward to that. Yes indeed.

Pretty unbelievable this is from 1973. Every rock album should be recorded this way.

Deep Purple - come taste the band

After an afternoon of unplugging, shaking, massaging, connection cleaning, cable dressing - the usual voodoo -, the result is stunning. I don't know if it's the Hi-Line finally hanging loose, the SNAIC twisted around the Burndy, the Power-Lines properly dressed, the clean connections, etc... but WOW!

Mr Grim, never knew you liked them.

What's it like? I've only got The Crane Wife which I like a lot.

(write up to follow soon once I've got a spare minute or two).

p.s. TM was quite good but was better at the Westie. Canvas bags inferior to our signed ones!
