Found a bunch of very cheap sales today, including some CDs from Mark Knopfler, and this one.

I haven't listened for it for about 20 years (gulp!) or so, because I didn't have it on CD!

GRRRRREAT! Yeepeee!!! Cool Cool Cool Big Grin

Dire Straits, Love Over Gold

This is the '96 remaster and it's great. I think I will go for the others as well.

Now, a nice pour of single malt and I'm off for 40 minutes.

IMO their last great album. I find Mark Knopfler's solo material to be very uninspiring.

I agree. You can't dismiss Brother In Arms, but for very different reasons. I think LOG is their masterpiece.

I'm also a bit bored by what I know from MK, but I bought a couple of his CDs on cheap sale today, including the one with Emmylou that I still have to listen.

I like the song Postcards From Paraguay very much though.

Mark Knopfler, Shangri-La

Anyway, it's good they care.

Otherwise the sound is superb.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Second Helping

AF seems to have quite a few QA problems these days: Morrison Hotel, Pretenders, now this one... Confused

I am awaiting my copy of the Skynyrd from AF as well as my first replacement Doors disc to be followed by the second one some time in the future.

The Pretenders disc I don't think was their fault someone messed with it on the record company front after Steve did it.

Haim,
Do tell! What is the Silvestrov like?

By the way, thanks for the Stefan Hussong recommendation. I am VERY interested in that one but why does anything good have to be so hard to get or find or just be very expensive?

Debs,
I have the LP on order, if it is as bad as Kuma says you can have it, shipping is my treat.

Jeremy

That's a very kind offer but i've a (horrid) feeling your going to enjoy it immensely!
I still remain pleasantly fascinated with this album.
Using many unusual and original instruments that include samisen, koto, riu teki, kakko, shoko, shakuhachi, and the big drums, taiko o-daiko and the wa-daiko. i don't have a clue what they are you know ; )
The vocals include a quartet of Zen monks!
The music is very soulful, deep and beautifully presented with fine musicianship. My cd copy has been engineered to perfection, so I’d highly recommend it on cd.
I would guess a vinyl copy would need to be a good pressing and near mint condition for there are many quiet parts.
It's on Spotify if anyone wants a sampler... Herbie Mann ~ Gagaku & Beyond

I bet Haim would appreciate the weird worldly wonder of this album too : )

That one is on my "to play" list as well.
I seem to remember it being on clear vinyl! Never too sure how you tell if it's clean or not. Smile

That just goes to show how good my memory is then, my copy is black vinyl too!!!

I do have a clear copy of something though, now if I could find my brain cell.......3 minutes later...... almost right it was Rainbow - Down To Earth, L.E. clear vinyl.

The worst I have is peppermint(coloured) vinyl of an ENID album.
