Haim,
Do tell! What is the Silvestrov like?

By the way, thanks for the Stefan Hussong recommendation. I am VERY interested in that one but why does anything good have to be so hard to get or find or just be very expensive?
Doug

Doug,

This is the worst choice for a car music, at least for a small and noisy car like mine, which drowned a lot of the delicate piano playing. I had to listen to it at home a couple of times before answering you.

Nostalghia is a good title for the disc. Other words that come into mind are meditation and lyricism. It is a collection of a sonata (played in the end) and short pieces, some of which (three Postludes) were specifically composed for Jenny Lin.

A lot of folks will dismiss this simplistic music as boring but I think that the melodies, the playing of Lin and the sound are very special. I am very glad that I got this recording.

I also urge you to get one of those used CDs of Stefan Hussong before they disappear. I never heard anyone do Bach on the Accordion like Hussong.

Picked almost randomly from "T" for Tracy Thorn. Plus it's a damn fine return album. It feels like it's 1982 and nothing happened in between. Almost.

Wish they would tour the states.

Why is the sound so bad in Genesis records?

Anne Gastinel & Pablo Marquez - Iberica. I heard a couple of tracks from this playing in the background when in one of the Fnac record stores in Paris last week. Really liked them so decided to take a punt and there are certainly no regrets. This is a wonderful album and quite possibly a late addition to my top 10 of the year.
Quote :
"The highly acclaimed French cellist Anne Gastinel collaborates with virtuoso Argentine guitarist Pablo Márquez in a delightful release exploring the passion and soul of Spanish music. The follow up to her successful Schubert Sonatas and Bach Suites albums sees Gastinel select the pieces and arrange them for cello. The recording includes Spanish Classical music standards by Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla and Gaspar Cassadó. Anne Gastinel records exclusively for Naïve, each new release is hailed by the international press and showered with awards. Achievements include: French Classical Music Awards 'Most Promising Young Talent 94' and 'Best Recording of the Year'; 'Fnac' Prize 1995 and 2000; Prix de l'Académie du Disque; RTL Classique d'Or 1996 and 1998; the “Choc” du Monde de la Musique, Télérama (1998, 2000, 2001, and 2002). Pablo Márquez’s recordings for ECM New Series and Kairos have received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque de l’Acedémie Charles Cros, the Amadeus Prize."
