'cos it suits a Friday morning, off work, last day of my 'Easter' break, weather a bit crap. Very enigmatic.

Black dust creates some wonderful music, from home to Appalachia the emotion just shines through. Who in their right frame of mind would choose to work underground? Sad, that for many choice was (is) not an option.

Why? This is soulful, uplighting, funky Drum 'n' Bass, High Contrast is one of the true stars of the D&B scene in blighty a must for any electronic music lover. Also its on a spanking label from my manor called Hospital Records, Sarf Londons finest.

You can find it on iTunes (Harlan County USA: Songs of the coal miner's struggle), I bought it in the US - is on Rounder records. I have two LPs with a lot of the material but this is a good compilation (if you like this sort of thing).

I first heard Loreena as the introduction act to a Mike Oldfield concert sometime in the mid '90s. Great vocals over a rich layered musical background. Middle Eastern and Celtic themes, but with her unique twist.

Beth Orton is a new atist for me and I'm still getting used to her - not sure yet, but as I have time on my hands today I thought I'd give her another spin.

Mrs Lontano just bumped into Mr Gilmour again. Second week in a row. So time for a little music from the maestro.

Bryan Ferry - Boys And Girls. The last time I played this was my vinyl copy - so a long time ago! Picked up the CD cheap and it still sounds great. His best solo work, IMHO.

KK,

If you like this you might also want to try this compilation, which is another Music Maker Recording.

The shop can be accessed here and has lots of other goodies as well.

Regards

Nic
